Arion was born in Budapest, in 1978. Lives and works in Budapest, Hungary.
His work is balancing between documentary and staged photography in long-term projects exploring urban development, environmental issues and engineered landscape. He received the József Pécsi scholarship in 2011, 2007 and 2004.
Since 2007 he works on his doctorate thesis with support from a state scholarship at the DLA school of Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design, where he teaches as assistant lecturer. In 2010 Arion took part in the European Eyes on Japan / Japan Today project. He received the "Márciusi Ifjak" award of the Hungarian Republic.
Works of Arion were exhibited in group shows at venues like Musée de L`Elysée, Neuer Berliner Kunstverein, Aperture Gallery, and festivals from Lodz to Pingyao. Arion is a member of the Association of Young Photographers Hungary.
Gabriella Csizek wrote about the other works of Kudász:
,,Gábor Arion Kudász shows us our lost natural spaces, the landscapes rewritten by humanity following the rules of classic image-making. His landscapes are vast still-lives on the edges of populated land and open areas, with all the material things that may well be seen as the negative effect of humanity on nature. The absurdity of his pictures stems from the subject itself and the manner of representation. Bridges and roundabouts, construction sites and billboards sit in the landscape so organically, it almost hurts. But they certainly force us to reconsider our notions of beauty and what is natural.”
